Cheap Fusion Power Harnessed
posted on 18:02 12/20/2007 by idiot
Ok, that's misleading.  But the sun is a giant fusion reactor.  The amount of energy it blows out every billisecond is, to use the scientific terminology, BUH-TARDED.

San Jose geniuses at Nanosolar have managed to produce solar panels at $.99/Watt.  This is awesome because it's officially cheaper than coal.  I've long wondered why most buildings and structures aren't covered with the dang things, regardless of cost, but now there's no excuse.  Solar prius hacks aside, I hope to see some commercial plug-in hybrids that recharge from solar panel roofs.  Maybe they won't be that ugly, maybe more ugly along these lines.

Through a combination of increased efficiency and cheap solar panels, I think we can put a serious dent in emissions and even save some money.  Hell, the great thing about having solar on your house is if you generate more than you use, the power company pays you.  Now you're cooking with, uh, THE SUN.
